Antibiotics Medicine Amoxicillin

Amoxicillin is an antibiotic. It acts against a wide range of Bacteria as compared to penicillin. Bacteria susceptible to amoxicillin include alpha and beta hemolytic, streptococci, strep pneumonia, strep bacillus, bacillus anthraces etc. It is used to treat Bacterial infectious in which penicillin is not effective such as urinary tract infections. Gastro-intestinal infections, Respiratory tread infections etc.
Doses and Administration
Children (under 20 kg) 20,40 mg per day in divided doses.
Adult 250,500mg mg three times daily-7 days.in Gastrointestinal infection with Metronidazole 400mg 2 times a day-7 days.
In Otitis media -250 mg thrice daily to 500mg thrice daily for 3-10 days.
Children 8 hourly
Side effects
1. Skin rash,loose motion and allergic reactions on injection.
2. Precautions as penicillin should be taken for this drug also.
